How to Choose an Excellent Domain Name for Your Business Website

Choosing a good domain name for your website or new online project it’s still a big deal even these days. So I will tell you the most important things to consider when you choose not a good web domain name but an excellent one.

Short

A web domain name should be short. For example, 7 to 14 characters should do the thing. This thing is good for SEO and SEM because it is easier to remember and is more visually attractive when you use it in a text post or on a leaflet.

Brandable

Be creative and come up with a non-general domain name. A brandable domain name is easier to remember and harder to be copied. General is something like FaceCreams.com. Something brandable sounds like skinbetter.com.

Easy to Type

After you choose a domain name, please don’t buy it yet. Instead, tell it to 3 or 4 friends and ask them to type it on their web browser. Find out what feedback they have for you. Then, after two days, call them and ask them if they remember that domain name.

Zero Numbers

Don’t use numbers in your web domain name. It looks spammy and unprofessional. Also, please avoid using hyphens if possible because it is hard to remember this type of domain name correctly. But, again, simple is the winning strategy.

Keyword

A domain name extension is a text after the dot. For gabrielursan.com, the extension is .com. But there are a lot of other extensions that you can choose from. I suggest .com, .org, or .net if your website is in English. If not, go with your country extension.

Long Term

When you buy a domain name for your website and start to invest a lot of time, money, and energy to develop it, it will be hard and expensive (but not impossible to do it correctly) to change it after a few years.
